Surface Finishing

The finish is the decision clients change most often and understand least. It is not a colour choice — it is a choice of how the metal behaves under light, and how it will look in five years.

What finishes do over five years

A brushed finish ages honestly: it collects fine scratches and they blend into the grain. A mirror finish shows every one of them.

A textured or micro finish hides handling marks, which is why we recommend it for a family kitchen where doors are opened with wet hands. A matte lacquer is the most colour-accurate and the least forgiving of scuffs.

Matching to a sample

Send a physical sample — a door, a tile, a piece of trim — and we match to it rather than to a screen. A RAL code is a good starting point but it does not describe sheen, and sheen is half of what you are choosing.

If the colour is critical we send a finished sample plate before production. That costs a few days and removes the only real risk in the order.

Questions

The questions that come up before an order

How many finishes can I see in one order?

Every module can be a different finish, and a showroom typically uses six to eight. There is no minimum per finish.

Is PVD colour durable?

It is harder than paint and it does not fade, but it is a coating and a deep scratch will show the metal underneath. On a high-touch frame, brushed stainless is more honest.

Can you match a RAL colour exactly?

Close, not identical — RAL is a paint system and we are finishing metal. Send a physical sample and we will tell you the delta before you commit.

Send the wall and the bottle count

Three photographs and a tape measure is enough for a scheme, a finish direction and a price. The drawing fee covers the CAD and the visuals.
