Inside the Wine Cabinet Factory

A wine cabinet factory with eleven stages under one roof in Shunde, Foshan: drawing, cutting, folding, welding, finishing, assembly, cooling, dry fit, inspection, crating and loading. Each stage has its own page because each one is where a cabinet is either right or wrong.

The process

Eleven stages, one address

This matters more than it sounds. When the frame, the glass, the cradle and the cooling come from the same building, a problem has exactly one place to go.

01

Design and Drawing

Nothing is cut until the drawing is signed

A custom cabinet has no size chart to fall back on, so the drawing is the product.

02

Laser Cutting and Folding

A folded frame is one piece of metal, all the way round

The frame starts as flat 1.2 mm sheet.

03

Frame Assembly and Welding

The corner is the tell

Anyone can fold a frame.

04

Final Assembly

Six suppliers, one assembly line

A finished cabinet is a stainless frame, a timber or acrylic interior, glass in the door frames, and a compressor in its bay.

05

Surface Finishing

Eight families · 63 surfaces · matched to your sample

The finish is the decision clients change most often and understand least.

06

Glass and Door Construction

Glass is the failure point of every cooled cabinet

A cooled cabinet is a warm room, a cold box and one material in between.

07

Cooling Assembly and Testing

Embraco, front-vented, and tested before it ships

The compressor is the one component that will need attention in year five, so it is the one component we refuse to make proprietary.

08

Inspection and Quality Control

Five checks, and the one that catches most faults

Quality control is not a final inspection.

09

Packing and Crating

Numbered modules, because the installer is not standing next to us

A 4 m wine wall arrives as six numbered modules, not as one object.

10

Lead Times, Freight and Export

25 to 45 days, and what moves it

Production is 25 to 45 days depending on cooling and finish.

11

Warranty and Spare Parts

Two years on parts. The reason it works is Embraco.

A warranty is a promise about a part you can actually get.

The floor

Photographs from the workshop

Not styled and not lit for a camera: units standing in the hall, a frame checked flat on protective sheeting, a cabinet photographed full of bottles before it is packed. This is what the eleven stages look like between stages.

Bays of bottle shelving standing in a workshop aisle
Bays waiting in the aisle, welding area behind, a fitter walking between them
Long run of lit bottle shelving on a workshop floor
A run of shelving on the shop floor, LED under every shelf, stainless sheet still on the pallets
Three part wine storage wall standing on a workshop floor
A three part storage wall after assembly: glazed cooled bays either side, open display in the middle
Gold framed two door wine cabinet loaded with bottles before packing
Loaded for the dry fit photograph: every bottle in, film still on the frame, control live at the top
Bronze display frame laid flat on protective sheeting

Two cabins side by side before crating: one glazed and cooled, one open framed

What we do not have

Honest limits

Six photographs of the floor are not a factory tour. Still missing from this site: the welding bay mid-arc, the finishing line, the crate bay and the loading bay.

No stock photography

Every image here, workshop or finished work, comes out of our own archive. Where a stage has no usable photograph yet, the page says so rather than borrowing a picture of somebody else's factory.

No invented capacity figures

We quote a production range of 30 to 40 days per project instead of a monthly output number, because the range is what a customer can hold us to.

No certifications we do not hold

Where a market needs a certificate, we say so on the page for that market instead of implying it everywhere.

Ask a factory question

Cutting tolerance, weld finish, crate size, or how the cooling is serviced. Ask directly and the answer comes from the person who runs the stage.
