Dark Lacquered Bar Wall With Bottle Racks
A dark bar wall where the bottle storage and the bar back are one piece of joinery, lit so the bottles read as the only bright thing in the room.
What the photographs show
A long wall in a dark lacquer finish, bottle racks running behind the bar counter, red accents in the seating and a single strong light source washing the bottles. The room is built for evening use; there is very little daylight in the frame.
What the build had to solve
A bar back is worked harder than a domestic cabinet: it opens and closes all evening, it holds glasses as well as bottles, and it has to cope with a wet counter in front of it. The frame is 18 mm stainless for that reason, the lower section is closed with a wipeable interior, and the lighting is split so the bar can be dimmed without losing the bottle rows.
What to copy, and what to avoid
Worth copying: splitting the lighting circuits. Worth avoiding: open bottle storage directly above a sink or a glass washer — steam finds it.

What clients ask about a room like this one
Can the bar back be cooled?
Yes, and on a working bar it usually should be for the open-bottle shelf. Cooling draws about 50 mm behind the unit and needs the plinth vent kept clear of the counter run.
How is it cleaned?
The lower section lifts out for wiping, and the shelves are plain so a cloth runs the length without catching. Nothing porous goes behind a bar.
