Horizontal Bottle Rails as a Display Frame

Bottles held on horizontal rails instead of cradles, so the display reads as a grid of single bottles rather than as a wall of storage.

What the photographs show

Rows of single bottles lying on horizontal rails with open space between them, a framed panel rather than a shelved cabinet. The bottles are evenly spaced, and the gaps are as deliberate as the bottles.

What the build had to solve

A rail display holds fewer bottles per square metre than a cradle wall, and that is the trade: it is a display, not a cellar. Each rail carries a stop at both ends so a bottle cannot slide, and the pitch is set so a magnum can replace two standard bottles without redrawing the rail.

What to copy, and what to avoid

Worth copying: a stop at both ends of every rail. Worth avoiding: fitting rails where the wall gets direct sun — the bottle necks are what catch it.

Questions on this scene

What clients ask about a room like this one

Why choose rails over cradles?

Rails show the label and space the bottles. Cradles store more in the same wall. A hotel lobby wants rails; a cellar wants cradles, and some clients use one of each.

Do the bottles stay put?

They do once the end stops are fitted and the bottle shapes match the pitch. Mixed shapes are why we ask for the actual bottles you buy.
